REFLECTION PAPER-I
The first day the principle of the school welcomed us, me and Lerzan, and asked us about which level we want to teach. I was very willing to teach with 4 year old age group so she assigned me to the 4 year classroom. I was very excited and happy to be there. In the classroom there were two teachers and they were so friendly and welcoming. Sultan Hoca was slightly older and more experienced teacher than Kübra Hoca. But they were equally responsible for the children. There were 15 students in the class and the boys and girls were equal in number. One of the students had learning difficulties because he was developmentally challenged. As we have discussed before in our classroom my task in ANAÇEV was mostly observation. I was assigned to observe the students progress and learning development during the lessons. I went there every Friday from 8am to 12pm. Their schedule was same every week. Between 8 and 9am students were having free time to read the book they brought from home. 9 o’clock was the breakfast time. All the students were leaving the classroom to go to the bathroom to wash their hands and then they head to the cafeteria to have their breakfast. The breakfast takes about 20 -25 minutes and we leave the cafeteria. We went to the classroom so that the girls got ready for their ballet lesson and boys had free time with their toys. I attended all the ballet lessons right from the beginning and had the chance to observe the girls in their ballet performance. At 10 o’clock we prepare the students and the classroom for the English Lesson. It lasted for 25-30 minutes every week and I enjoyed observing children’s interest and performance every time. I thought they were amazing and every time I was very surprised that they remembered all the things they had learned. After the English lesson it was time for lunch and it lasted for 30-35 minutes. After they have finished their lunch it was time to have their daily nap.
