REFLECTION PAPER-III
The last two weeks of my experience with young learners was extremely extraordinary. They taught me to teach to communicate and to understand them. First of all, in the light of my observations I have noticed that young learners learn very fast as long as provided with the right material, right teaching methods and repetitions. I was very surprised to see that students can answer all the questions and make a full and understandable sentence. Their English teachers was showing them flashcards and they were able to know the Turkish equaling word for them easily. Then they with a game which was testing the students comprehension. They were so good at the game and they were really enjoying themselves.
Secondly, the students were repeating all the movements as well as words. When their teacher was going to teach them a new vocabulary he was using his hands, mouth, gestures and his body. Then he was creating a meaningful and enjoyable context so that children can get the idea and remember the word(s). The students were doing all the movements together and they were trying to repeat the word even when they cannot pronounce it correctly. I think this was the gist of teaching young learners. You need to create something interesting and use TPR in order to allow students to use their energy and learn through experience.
Finally, I have observed that although their cognitive abilities are at the top the students were having trouble with repeating the dancing movements. It was very hard for them to perform a dance no matter with a partner or alone. However, teachers found a solution to this problem. They were doing all the things again and again with the help of their teachers.
All in all I loved being there and play with children. We were like friends all the time and was very happy every Friday from 8am. To 12pm. Although I did not teach them anything but a song it was an unforgettable experience for me.

REFLECTION PAPER- II
After two weeks we got used to each other and everything was very nice. I was good at getting along with the teachers and the students. It was my first time with young learners and I admit it was the best experience ever. Although my task was only to observe the students and repot about their progress I was very enthusiastic to teach them something. I asked for permission and decided to teach the children a song called ‘’If you are Happy and You Know it Clap Your Hands’’. I chose this song because I wanted to take the attention of the students and teach them something interesting and funny. At first students were a little confused because the teachers told them that they have one more teacher in the classroom and it was me but I was expected only to observe them. A teacher who does not teach them but sits among them and plays with them made the students feel that I am a play friend for them rather than a teacher. When I came in front of the class everybody was looking at me and trying to figure out what I’m going to do. I wanted them to relax so that I began with an explanation. I told them that I love songs and one of them is my favorite. Then I asked them to sing with me and do the dancing movements as I do. They were a little shy at first but they liked the song and participated for the whole period. After we have finished they asked me to repeat the song and sing it again, so we did. I was very happy to see that all of them were with me and very happy and relieved. They accepted me as their teacher and I accepted them as my students. It was really awesome. The following weeks they memorized the song and I was very happy to see that one of the students was playing the song while their teacher was trying to carry out an activity. I realized that if you provide a good and friendly environment and if you attract their attention they will respond you positively in learning and adopting their knowledge in their lives.

REFLECTION PAPER-I
The first day the principle of the school welcomed us, me and Lerzan, and asked us about which level we want to teach. I was very willing to teach with 4 year old age group so she assigned me to the 4 year classroom. I was very excited and happy to be there. In the classroom there were two teachers and they were so friendly and welcoming. Sultan Hoca was slightly older and more experienced teacher than Kübra Hoca. But they were equally responsible for the children. There were 15 students in the class and the boys and girls were equal in number. One of the students had learning difficulties because he was developmentally challenged. As we have discussed before in our classroom my task in ANAÇEV was mostly observation. I was assigned to observe the students progress and learning development during the lessons. I went there every Friday from 8am to 12pm. Their schedule was same every week. Between 8 and 9am students were having free time to read the book they brought from home. 9 o’clock was the breakfast time. All the students were leaving the classroom to go to the bathroom to wash their hands and then they head to the cafeteria to have their breakfast. The breakfast takes about 20 -25 minutes and we leave the cafeteria. We went to the classroom so that the girls got ready for their ballet lesson and boys had free time with their toys. I attended all the ballet lessons right from the beginning and had the chance to observe the girls in their ballet performance. At 10 o’clock we prepare the students and the classroom for the English Lesson. It lasted for 25-30 minutes every week and I enjoyed observing children’s interest and performance every time. I thought they were amazing and every time I was very surprised that they remembered all the things they had learned. After the English lesson it was time for lunch and it lasted for 30-35 minutes. After they have finished their lunch it was time to have their daily nap.
